The Board

Ralph Highnam, PhD, is CEO of mātakina. He was formerly CEO of Mirada Solutions, one of the University of Oxford’s most successful spin-outs of recent times, co-author of the seminal book, Mammographic Image Analysis, and has consulted for many of the world’s leading medical imaging companies.

Dr John Hood is Chairman of mātakina. He is also President and CEO of the Robertson Foundation, based in New York and a director of BG Group plc. He was previously Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford (2005-09) and The University of Auckland (1999-2004). Earlier, his career was in industry. He has been Chief Executive and/or a Director of a number of companies across a broad range of industries.

Professor Sir Michael Brady was a founding Director of mātakina, continuing his serial entrepreneurship which has seen him steer several small high-growth technology companies to success. He is now Professor Emeritus of Radiation Oncology and Biology, having retired as Professor of Information Engineering at the University of Oxford.

Roger Allen is the Chairman of Allen & Buckeridge, an Australian venture capital firm specialising in information technology. Previously, he was the CEO of Computer Power Group, which he grew to become one of the largest IT companies in Australia with revenues of over $300M. He has served on numerous government committees and in 2007 was awarded the Pearcey Medal in recognition of his 30+ years of commitment to the ICT industry.

 

Scientific Board

 

Professor Nico Karssemeijer is one of the pioneers of computer-aided detection and played a key role in its development and adoption. He is also a Professor in the Department of Radiology, Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

Professor Martin Yaffe is a world-leading medical physicist who consults for and carries out research with many of the major companies in medical imaging. He is responsible for much of the pioneering work on quantitative breast imaging. Martin continues to teach at the University of Toronto.
